Situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Williamstown, the owners were looking to create an entertainers kitchen and convert the existing laundry to a butlers pantry whilst also housing a euro style laundry in the same space.
The previous kitchen was in a U-shape and cut the living space in half taking up floor space whilst the layout provided no overhead storage on one wall which needed addressing.
By creating a galley kitchen and adding an island bench, the space has been opened up and now allows for multiple people to be working in the space at the same time. From one end of the wall, we added classic banquet seating with inbuilt storage which allows for extra seating around the dining table. The bench sits alongside the the run of low wall cabinets, with a row of overhead cabinets clad in light timber laminate above. A window splashback was cut out from the existing wall allowing natural light to flood the Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo countertop and the Bosch cooktop with natural light. A new door at the end of the cabinet run was added, which also gives access to a side courtyard and more natural light.
A wall of full height cabinetry clad in Matt Black laminate finish sits adjacent to the door and houses the Bosch appliances, refrigerator, featuring quiet push close mechanisms and a full height timber edge wine rack.
Opposite the island bench with the Franke granite sink and tapware, a new door opening was created through to the previous laundry and which now houses a medium size butlers pantry. The space is ample and also has the added bonus of being able to accommodate a euro laundry on the opposite wall. This space is closed off by a glass paned ‘barn’ sliding door which sits on black metal tracks, allowing for natural light to come into the pantry from the kitchen. Matt black low cabinets topped with Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo and overhead cabinets complete the look whilst another smaller Franke granite sink and tap ware makes good use of the space next to the undermount wine fridge.
The end result has created a laid-back but functional space with loads of storage and ample room for entertaining. The clients couldn’t be happier.
