FAQ’s
Why should I choose The Inside Project for my kitchen renovation?
Kitchens are wide and varied in size, style and function required.
More than just selecting your cabinet & benchtop finish, working with a designer will ensure all your needs are met in terms of storage, working space, appliances, finishes and layout. They will maximise your budget by knowing exactly what to include and what can be left out.
Clear planning ensures a successful build and using a Registered Building Practitioner gives you peace of mind with a 10 year warranty.
Can I live in my home during the kitchen renovation?
While a little tricky for the residents, our clients often stay living in the home during a kitchen renovation.
You can set up your laundry as a temporary space, use outdoor cooking facilities or eat out / order in.
Some clients also time their renovation with a holiday to minimise the time without their kitchen. This is the benefit of working with a full-service builder that manages everything for you.
We are well versed in working in occupied spaces and take care to minimise the interruption to your home. It is of course important to remember that renovations are disruptive whichever way you manage it.
How long will my kitchen renovation take?
Most kitchen renovations require 4-6 weeks to be ready to use. Benchtop selection is a critical factor in the schedule as they are usually measured after the cabinetry is installed with a lead time for production.
How much will a kitchen renovation cost?
All kitchens have their own individual requirements but here are some average costs for single room renovations based on our experience.
Budget friendly – from $35,000
A stylish makeover with the same layout & melamine finished cabinetry (excluding appliances).
Mid range – from $45,000
Minor layout changes with a higher specification in cabinetry such as vinyl or premium laminates and stone bench tops (excluding appliances).
Bells & Whistles – from $60,000
Major layout or structural changes with higher end cabinetry finishes such as 2-pac or veneer, premium benchtops & splashbacks, integration of appliances (excluding appliances).
In addition to the kitchen spaces noted above we can also design additional requirements such as laundries or adjoining study spaces.
Can I provide my own products?
We encourage you to supply your own appliances as these are a personal choice in terms of function and budget. We will provide feedback on type, size & finish to ensure these work within the overall design concept.
Can I be part of the kitchen design process?
A great idea is to collate a handful of images of kitchens you love to give us an idea of your style.
Along with your brief, our designers will take this vision as their guide and build on it to create your beautiful new kitchen.

Things to consider when renovating your kitchen
There is a lot to consider in a kitchen design.
Start with who will be using the space – a kitchen in an apartment will be vastly different to a large family home.
Consider your wish list – what are your not negotiable’s versus your nice to have’s.
Budget – how much do you want to invest in the renovation? Your short & long term plans for the home often play into this. Your dream home for 10+years will often be a different conversation to a short term play.
A professional designer will walk you through all these questions and more to create the perfect space.
