Climbing 3 flights of internal stairs rewards you with beautiful tree top views as far as the eye can see, in this joyful one bedroom Art Deco apartment in East St Kilda. The client’s brief was to maximise storage and functionality within the kitchen, whilst creating a modern space with loads of bench area.
Through the use of overhead cabinets, drawers and a large corner walk in pantry, all wrapped in ‘Ultra White Vienette’ melamine, the requirement for more storage was provided. The pantry just inside the door on the right is fitted with narrow shelves to store herbs, spices & oils. A pullout broom cupboard is fitted on the left of the fridge.
Ample preparation space is provided by the Smartstone ‘Amara’ benchtop that runs across the longest wall, also housing a Bosch gas cooktop and an Abey undermount sink matched with an Abey Lucia kitchen mixer with black spout.
The client opted for a Westinghouse combination microwave oven to be fitted into the under bench joinery to maximise space within the compact area.
With a nod to the surrounding cafe scene, a small casual cafe style eating/bar area was created to the left which allowed for the perfect relaxing spot to have breakfast while enjoying morning sunlight and views across the suburban rooftops.
Shelving wrapped in Polytec ‘Estella Oak – Wood Matt’ sit above the eating area, displaying the client’s collection of indoor plants. The gorgeous ‘Lennox Head Blue Pattern’ tile by Tile Cloud provides a unique and colourful splashback feature and sit perfectly alongside the ‘Newport glossy subway’ tiles of the adjacent wall. The floor is clad in ‘Redfern Terrazzo look mixed’ tiles.
Working from home never looked so good, with an easy to use kitchen and cafe nook just ready for a morning coffee break.
