Kitchen Renovation Yarraville

As part of a much larger extension and renovation, this young and growing family was in desperate need of a functional kitchen.

The client had selected some inspiration images and the common themes were clear – monochrome with timber features. The design was to centre around 2 key pieces: an existing freestanding cooker, and a beautiful farmhouse style ceramic sink.

Selections already made for the rest of the extension included blackbutt timber floors + door frames, matt black hardware and concrete bench tops around the fireplace. We incorporated these into the kitchen design with a combination of black and white joinery, a timber bench top and legs for the island, plus some matching timber shelves above the sink. A matt black pull-out sink mixer complemented the joinery, and Caesarstoneʼs Rugged Concrete brought a bit of an industrial touch to the rear benchtop.

A generous butlerʼs pantry was also incorporated into the floor plan, with large joinery to house large appliances and crockery, as well as the French-door fridge. We adopted a handle-less look for the kitchen, including for the integrated dishwasher which allowed the cooker and sink to shine, and for the vertical detail of the dark base cabinets to be seamless.

We ensured that the island bench was deep enough for useable storage, space for stools and left enough space for a decent sized dining table. The client was able to fit a gorgeous 10-seater timber table which they beautifully finished off with dusty pink chairs.

The final result is a large kitchen made up of different layers for storage, cooking, preparation, casual dining and formal dining. The selection of fixtures and finishes resulted in a warm space that is cosy, despite itʼs size!
