Nestled in a tree-lined street in Northcote, the owners of this elegant Californian Bungalow sought to upgrade the rear of the house with a new laundry and family bathroom. The client’s love of colour dictated the palette for the two rooms which sit comfortably within the natural environment and the existing home.
Functionality was the aim here … A previously placed small shower against the window and a large chunky vanity did not allow for easy access so the designer sought to enlarge the look of the room by relocating the toilet, which in turned allowed for a large walk in shower to sit alongside one wall. The installation of a cavity slider instead of the existing door, saved floorspace as well.
With a smaller sized vanity unit (wrapped in Laminex ‘Raw Cotton’ and topped with Caesarstone ‘Ginger’) and the addition of a full wall of mirrored shaving cabinets, ample additional storage is allowed for.
The client sourced their own glass coloured basin before the project and wanted to tie that into the colour scheme, which when added to the theme of travertine tiles, brushed brass tapware and shower suite from the Sussex ‘Scala’ range, resulted in a beautiful earthy feel. The soft blue “Paloma Aqua Pressed” subway tiles were placed in a herringbone pattern resulting in a beautiful feature wall/splashback and sit perfectly against the ‘Capri Travertini Beige’ tiles which wrap the large walk in shower and remaining walls.
A continuous look was achieved with the bathroom flowing on from the laundry, with the ‘Capri Travertine Beige’ tiles used on the floor making for a seamless transition.
A simple neat bathroom that ticks the boxes for easy to access, easy to maintain and easy on the eye.
