Our clients for this project were a busy family with 2 young children. The brief was for an easy to
look after kitchen & bathroom with loads of functionality and of course style. Something that a
growing family will get years and years of use out of.
Originally a 1960’s orange brick home in original condition, the clients added a modern extension to
the back and completely gutted and renovated the inside. We were engaged to do the designs for
kitchen, pantry, laundry, ensuite and bathroom.
We wanted to develop a design that was sympathetic to the heritage of the home; not too modern
and sparse, something that would work in with the rest of the renovation.
In the kitchen area with its large open plan vista, we brought in some warmth with the use of timber
cabinetry that tied in with the beautiful black butt timber floors. The colour match of the Navurban
Byron Blackbutt used for the tall units against the new flooring creates a seamless and easy flow
The beautiful Corian benchtop on the central island has rounded ends to soften the length and scale
of the massive surface. The integrated sink is perfect for maintenance and use, and the waterfall
end completes the sleek look.
The design of the kitchen was thought out with the inclusion of gadgets in keeping with a high-end
project. The servo automatic push to open sink cupboards, bins and bin drawers under sink, and
integrated appliances, all go towards giving that bespoke and polished finish. A custom bulkhead
was built to house the airconditioning vents; which, when created in sync with the joinery, made for
a detailed entrance to the hidden pantry. Inside the pantry the colour and finishes continued
allowing a seam free feel to the entire space. Loads of storage with above height cabinets, plenty of
low cabinets and ample usable bench space abounds.
Beautiful leather detailed handles from Made Measure’ were used as a detail in the pantry and
laundry areas. Raw, earthy, subtle and strong.
