Located in a classic brick Victorian home in Elwood a previous renovation included an expansive kitchen that had dated over time.
Our clients, a family with teenage children, were craving some warmth in the space to make it more inviting with up to date appliances for the avid cooks in the home & plenty of space to entertain.
The existing footprint, as a concept, worked fairly well in practice, so the layout was built around small tweaks rather than a complete change. The layout comprises of two areas – the tall cabinetry and bench joinery, both in galley configurations. The tall joinery includes the fridge, ovens, warming drawer, pantry and lots of storage as well as an appliance cabinet with a small area of bench space. The bench joinery is where the entertaining, prep & cooktop cooking occurs.
Each run is over 4500mm long with cooking/cleaning against the wall leaving the massive island bench free for storage, entertaining, gathering, eating or working. A section at the end of the island with four stools is a casual eating or working space.
The colour palette was chosen to add depth to the large bright room. Polytec Venette in Black is the main cabinetry finish with some additions of Cinder Woodmat on the rangehood, shelf and appliance cabinet.
Caesarstone “Turbine Grey” was used on all benchtops in varying thicknesses with the beautiful natural coloured & textured splashback tile from Integra Surfaces.
Made Measure leather handles on select cabinets add a finishing touch to the same palette.
