Moonee Ponds Bathroom

Kara Turner

The project brief for this bathroom was that it had to serve the dual purpose of being the main downstairs bathroom and the guest bathroom.

The client really wanted a functional and engaging space to use, but also needed the space to show itself off.

A modern feel without clashing with the California Bungalow aesthetic in the old section of the house was key in narrowing down the design elements.  This connection between modern and classic was made using marble wall tiles and chrome tapware.

By keeping to a simple grey, white and blue palette we paid homage to the heritage of the house; whilst incorporating the concrete look floor tiles, sleek white cabinetry and speckled feature tile we brought in an unmistakably modern vibe.

The full height feature tile wall behind the vanity added the element of drama and luxury that made the space feel like more than just a family bathroom. While the simple ‘wet space’ layout allowed us to create a large shower space without compromising storage space in the vanity or crowding the floor space.

Overall, the clients were left with a spacious, functional and luxurious space.
